Welcome to Burbrella Microschools:
Project-Based Learning for Grades 6-8 & College, Career, and Entrepreneurship for Grades 9-12

At Burbrella Microschools, we believe that learning should be engaging, relevant, and designed to prepare students for the future. That’s why we offer two dynamic programs: our project-based learning model for grades 6-8 and our college, career, and entrepreneurship-focused model for grades 9-12. Both programs empower students to explore their interests, develop critical skills, and prepare for success in the real world.

Grades 6-8: Project-Based Learning

In grades 6-8, Burbrella students dive into a project-based learning (PBL) environment that encourages hands-on, collaborative, and inquiry-driven exploration. Our curriculum integrates STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts, and math) with real-world applications, providing students with the opportunity to solve complex problems and build meaningful projects that reflect their passions and interests.

Why Choose Project-Based Learning?

Project-based learning is a powerful way to engage middle schoolers in their education. Instead of traditional lectures and worksheets, PBL allows students to learn by doing, giving them the chance to:

● Solve real-world problems through hands-on projects and challenges

● Work collaboratively with peers to create innovative solutions

● Think critically and creatively by applying knowledge to practical situations

● Develop independence and ownership of their learning

● Present and defend their ideas through presentations, reports, and exhibitions

By working on long-term, multidisciplinary projects, students connect what they’re learning in class to the world around them. Whether they’re designing a sustainable city or creating a business plan, students leave middle school with the skills and confidence needed to excel in high school and beyond.

Holistic Whole-Child Education

At Burbrella, we understand that middle school is a time of rapid growth and change. That’s why we emphasize a holistic, whole-child approach, focusing not only on academic development but also on social-emotional learning, leadership, and personal growth. Our teachers support students in building:

● Self-confidence as they take on leadership roles in their projects

● Teamwork skills through group collaboration and peer feedback

● Resilience by learning from mistakes and overcoming challenges

● Social awareness through community-focused projects that connect to real-world issues

We believe that by fostering both intellectual and emotional growth, we prepare our students to thrive in high school and in life.

Grades 9-12: College, Career & Entrepreneurship

As students transition to high school, Burbrella’s program shifts to a focus on preparing students for college, careers, and entrepreneurship. We recognize that each student’s path is unique, so our model is designed to provide the skills, experiences, and knowledge necessary for success in any future pursuit.

Preparing for College & Career Success

For students aiming for college, our high school program offers a rigorous academic curriculum combined with real-world experiences. Students have access to advanced coursework, including AP classes and dual-enrollment opportunities with local colleges, ensuring they are well-prepared for higher education. In addition to academic rigor, we help students:

● Develop college readiness skills, including time management, research, and critical thinking

● Explore potential career paths through internships, job shadowing, and career exploration programs

● Build a professional portfolio with projects, research papers, and extracurricular achievements

● Navigate the college admissions process with personalized guidance on applications, essays, and financial aid

Our program is designed to help students not only get into the colleges of their choice but thrive once they’re there.

Entrepreneurship Focus

For students interested in pursuing entrepreneurship, Burbrella offers a unique opportunity to learn the ins and outs of running a business. Through our entrepreneurship track, students:

● Create their own businesses from concept to launch, working on everything from product development to marketing and finance

● Learn from successful entrepreneurs through guest lectures, mentorship programs, and real-world projects

● Participate in pitch competitions, where they present their business ideas to potential investors

● Develop financial literacy and business management skills

This program equips students with the entrepreneurial mindset and practical skills needed to succeed in a rapidly changing economy.

● Internships with local businesses and organizations

● Mentorship programs with professionals in various fields

● Service-learning projects that give back to the community

● Study abroad opportunities to explore global perspectives

These experiences allow students to apply their academic knowledge in real-world contexts, build professional networks, and gain valuable skills that will serve them in the future.

Holistic Development and Lifelong Success

Throughout their time at Burbrella, students develop the skills and mindsets they need for lifelong success. Our focus on personalized learning, social-emotional development, and leadership ensures that each student is prepared to navigate the challenges of the 21st century with confidence and purpose.
